November 8, 2007 - MSI General Corporation, Oconomowoc, announces the completion of the 3,400 square foot addition for Hawks Nursery at 12217 W. Watertown Plank Road in Wauwatosa. The addition contains more retail space for home decor, outdoor furniture and grilling accessories. It also houses a new conservatory for house plants. MSI recently completed a mezzanine build-out for Metal Era, Inc. on Airport Road in Waukesha, a 21,500 s.f. addition for Cain Industries in Germantown, a 4,200 s.f. addition for Exacto Spring in Grafton, the remodel for Pick 'n Save on S. 108th Street in Hales Corners and celebrated the opening of the new Sendik's Market on S. 51st and Rawson in Franklin.
Brennan's Market, 19000 W. Bluemound Road in Brookfield has chosen MSI General to design and build a 2,662 square foot greenhouse addition. Construction has just begun, with a completion date slated for February 2008. MSI is also working on the mezzanine build-out for Milwaukee Wire Products at 7850 N. 81st Street in Milwaukee and upgrades and pharmacy addition at the Pick 'n Save store on Silvernail in Pewaukee.
October 25, 2007 - MSI General Corporation of Oconomowoc has started several new projects in the area recently. TOLD Development of Milwaukee is building a new 4,000 s.f., one-story tenant building on Golf Road in Delafield just east of the Applebee's restaurant. The building is brokered by Commercial Property Associates of Milwaukee. Verizon Wireless will occupy the space. Completion is slated for December 2007.
Wismarq Corporation at 930 E. Armour Road in Oconomowoc has hired MSI General to design and build a two-story office addition that will add 2,152 s.f. to the first level and 5,740 s.f. on the second. Construction should begin in late November.
In preparation for future development of a new Pick 'n Save and additional retail space, MSI General has begun demolition on the old Plank Road Bowling Alley on the east end of Oconomowoc. A new Pick 'n Save store is currently being reviewed for approval in the Village of Oconomowoc Lake.
October 25, 2007 - The Potawatomi Area Council, Boy Scouts of America has announced plans to build a new, nearly 9,000 square foot service center at their property located at 804 Bluemound Road, formerly N12 W24498 Bluemound Road, Waukesha.
MSI General of Oconomowoc has been contracted for the design, engineering, and construction of the new building. Work will also include the demolition of the old 4,425 square foot facility which was formerly a Waukesha School District two room school prior to 1972. The current service center is severely outdated and crowded. The new facility will be the first in time years that volunteers and staff will have an up to date service center geared toward the needs of its membership.
August 24, 2007 - MSI General Corporation of Oconomowoc has been selected by Roundy's Inc. for the remodel of two Milwaukee area Pick 'n Save grocery stores and two Madison area stores. The Village Market store at 5800 S. 108th Street in Hales Corners will receive an interior remodel, and the Pick 'n Save store at 220 E. Sunset Drive in Waukesha is to receive a new exterior as well as a major interior remodel. The Pick 'n Save store at 1750 Highway 51 in Stoughton will receive an interior and exterior remodel, while the Copp's store at 650 University Ave. in Shorewood Hills is receiving a major interior remodel.
August 14, 2007 - Power Test Dynamometers of Menomonee Falls is moving to a larger facility in Sussex. Power Test has contracted with MSI General Corporation of Oconomowoc for the work at N60 W22700 Silver Spring Drive in Sussex, where existing buildings totaling 58,000 square feet will be refaced, updated and remodeled. Construction is expected to be completed by November 2007.
June 26, 2007 - MSI General Corporation has been chosen by Frontier Development of Oconomowoc for site work, design and construction of a new 11 acre retail development on the northwest corner of Silver Spring Drive and Lilly Road in Menomonee Falls.
The first phase of construction began in June with site work. Phase 2 is a 6,800 s.f. bank building for First Bank Financial Centre which will include 2,560 s.f. of additional tenant space. MSI General will also design and construct a 19,266 s.f. multi-tenant retail building on the site.
June 15, 2007 - MSI General Corporation has recently hired Craig Coursin as their new president. He will be taking over the day to day leadership of the company for Dirk J. Debbink, who will remain as chairman.
Craig is a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and received his degree in architecture at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1981. He is an member of the AIA and a registered architect in the State of Wisconsin.
Craig served in the U.S. Air Force for 5-1/2 years as an officer in the role of base architect, and then continued on for 15 more years in the Wisconsin Air National Guard with the 128th Air Refueling Wing in Milwaukee, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. His last assignment was Commander for the Civil Engineering Squadron.
He worked at the Zimmerman Design Group from 1988 to 2001 running a studio, and worked his way up to a Vice President of the firm. In 2001, he joined CG Schmidt as a Vice President working with corporate and industrial business development as well as the design/build division. Craig has always specialized in the pre-construction phase of many of their projects.
Craig and his wife, Lisa, live in Pewaukee with their three children, two of whom are in college and one in high school. His personal interests include science and technology which lead him to become the Regional Chairman of an advisory committee for FIRST Robotics; he serves on the City of Pewaukee Plan Commission and he is a member of the downtown Milwaukee Rotary Club. He serves on the board of Curative Care Network, and he was recently awarded a Wisconsin AIA Merit award for his work on the Milwaukee Public Market. Craig’s main hobby is playing guitar in a rock band called "Alter Ego".
June 14, 2007 - Cain Industries has selected MSI General Corporation for the design and construction of a 21,500 square foot addition to their facility located at W194 N11826 McCormick Drive, in Germantown, which MSI General built for Cain in 1998. Construction began in May and is expected to be completed by September 2007. Since 1978, Cain Industries has dedicated itself to producing exclusively, combustion exhaust heat transfer products.
MSI General has also contracted with Exacto Spring Corporation to build a 4,200 square foot addition to their existing facility at 1201 Hickory Street in Grafton. The addition will include warehouse space and production space. This is the second addition MSI General has built for Exacto Spring, which is a business-to-business spring and wireform manufacturer.
April 23, 2007 - Beerline Crossing LLC of Milwaukee has selected MSI General Corporation for the design and conversion for a 50,000 s.f. office space located at 4160 N. Port Washington Road in Glendale. The State of Wisconsin will be the primary tenant and additional office space will be available for lease to other tenants. The project includes an adjacent 29,000 s.f. warehouse and light industrial tenant building which will also be leased out.
Beerline Crossing LLC is a joint venture between Earthbound Development, Endeavour Development and Beacon Development.
March 21, 2007 - The Slinger Fire Dept. has entered into an agreement with MSI General of Oconomowoc, WI to design and construct an 8,474 sq. ft. addition and renovation of the existing fire station at 201 Oak St. in Slinger, WI. which will result in a 16,000 sq. ft. facility. Over the years the fire department has purchased neighboring houses as they became available in planning for this expansion. During initial studies this site proved to be best suited because of the proximity of both the volunteer firefighters and the average response locations.
Features of this project will include a new and larger training center, conference rooms, offices, a dayroom, and bay expansion to accommodate 4 addition apparatus. The second-story mezzanine will service as a fitness center for the firefighters, an elevated training facility, and storage.
Most of the major construction will be performed by local contractors. Ground breaking will take place on April 10, 2007 with completion slated for Dec. 1, 2007.
February 6, 2007 - MSI General Corporation has been chosen as the design/build firm for extensive remodeling and additions for the H.C. Brill Company at their operation located at 7350 South 10th Street in Oak Creek. The work will encompass demolition and remodeling of the process area, a 15,000 s.f. freezer addition and boiler room construction. Demolition commenced in January and completion of the project is projected for late 2007.
H.C. Brill has a 75 year history of manufacturing premium baking ingredients such as frozen cakes, cookie dough, batters, icings and glazes. Their headquarters is located in Tucker, Georgia.
December 27, 2006 - Urban Planning and Development, LLC of Mequon has selected MSI General Corporation for the design and construction of a new multi-tenant building on 13th Avenue in the Village of Grafton. The 17,000 square foot facility will be home to the Milwaukee Ale House as well as leaseable office space. Construction is expected to begin in January, with completion by the end of summer 2007.
The Milwaukee Ale House will use 9,000 square feet and the remaining 8,000 square feet will be offered for lease. The development overlooks the beautiful Milwaukee River in historical downtown Grafton. Urban Planning and Development is excited that the customers of the Milwaukee Ale House and tenants of the new office building will be able to enjoy the newly constructed public river walk.
November 29, 2006 - MSI General Corporation has been selected for the design and construction of a new 27,300 square foot manufacturing plant and offices for Badger Railing in Milwaukee. The facility is moving from their present site at 1611 W. Canal Street to a parcel located at 3880 W. Milwaukee Road, near Miller Park.
Badger Railing has specialized in the custom fabrication of ornamental iron and steel for the Milwaukee area for over 50 years. Their projects have included the Marcus Amphitheater, East Pointe Commons and Miller Park. Construction on the new facility will begin immediately and is expected to be completed by May 2007.
October 29, 2006 - MSI General Corporation recently presented its 2006 Design Excellence Awards for employees at a ceremony held at their corporate office in Nashotah. Engineering, architectural, and interior designs were judged by a panel of three outside professionals in the construction and design fields: Gary Kautzer, Vice President, Irgens Development Partners, Chris Cornelius, Assistant Professor, Department of Architecture, UWM, and Matthew Jarosz, Assistant Adjunct Professor, Department of Architecture, UWM.
This year's winners are Tony Zulli, AIA - First Place Honor Award for the design of T-Lon Manufacturing in Hartland; Ryan Thomas - two (2) Merit Awards, Pabst Farms Market Place, Oconomowoc and the interior renovation of Temple Emanu-EL in Waukesha; Bert Zenker - Honorable Mention for design of the addition at Daco Precision in Kewauskum; Ditas Adomenas - Merit Award for structural engineering, Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Mequon.
September 7, 2006 - Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church broke ground for their new 12,000 square foot church on Sunday, October 15, 2006. The groundbreaking ceremony was held at the construction site for the new church, at the corner of N. Teutonia and Cornell, 2 blocks south of Hampton Avenue in Milwaukee.
The new church will feature a 587-seat sanctuary, narthex and church offices. The project includes off-street parking and a storm water management system. Future expansion plans include a lower level kitchen and fellowship hall with seating for 248.
The congregation was started as a mission and is one of the oldest Baptist churches in Milwaukee. The Reverend Donnie Sims has served as Pastor since the founding of the church in 1957 and also served as the president of the Wisconsin Baptist Convention for 17 years. The congregation sold their old church at 2328 W. Capitol Drive and currently worships at the Wisconsin Baptist Convention Building at 3500 N. 26th Street, site of the former A.O. Smith Credit Union.
Construction started in October 2006 and completion is expected in May 2007.
May 10, 2006 - MSI General Corporation has been selected for the renovation of a 36,000 square foot building for Waunakee Utilities. The new building is located at 322 Moravian Valley Road, Waunakee, Wisconsin. The utility moved into its current location at 205 North Klein Drive in 1982 and added an addition in 1993. The current facility has approximately 14,000 square feet. During this time, the utility has grown from 5 employees to its current level of 16. This new facility will allow for improved efficiencies in operations. MSI General will renovate an existing 36,000 square foot warehouse that will be converted into a vehicle and parts storage and office facility. This is located on roughly two acres of land. In addition, the project plan calls for the purchase of a three-acre vacant lot adjacent to this facility, currently owned by the Village of Waunakee, that is to be used in part as a material lay down area and for employee parking.
No additions to the perimeter of the 36,000 square foot warehouse are planned. When complete, the warehouse will include approximately 11,000 square feet of office space and 25,000 square feet of vehicle and parts storage. In addition, an 11,000 square foot interior mezzanine will be constructed over the office area. Also, new parking areas, drives, retaining walls, security fencing, and a garbage enclosure are proposed. The new facility is being designed with energy efficiency in mind. The utility is currently exploring options for energy efficient lighting and heating and cooling equipment. In addition, the utility will attempt to use recycled material whenever possible.
